We were asked to look at the car for a trade garage customer to find out why the car would not regenerate. On first inspection it seemed like a straight forward issue as the grill shutter was stuck open and this is required to function during regeneration. Instead of assuming that this would be the only fault, we continued with our in-depth diagnostics and discovered that there was also a software issue with the PCM. This is fairly common and essential if the DPF is to function correctly after the clean. Using our Ford IDS dealer diagnostics tool, we updated the PCM (ECU) the Ford’s latest calibration software. We could then carry out our 3 stage DPF clean to bring the DPF back into a serviceable condition. The car now regenerates as it should .
